Black Friday PC Gaming Deals 2021: Our Predictions

alienware aurora price sale deals cheap gaming desktop best

When it comes to this year's Black Friday PC gaming deals, we're already seeing some huge savings roll out from retailers like Newegg and Best Buy. We expected this would be the case, as retailers are looking to spread sales out over a longer stretch to account for supply chain and other logistics issues.

That means if you see a great deal on something you want, it's not necessarily going to be any cheaper on Black Friday, so if you see a great PC gaming deal right now, there's not much harm in jumping on it quickly at this point. And, with the ongoing supply chain problems, there's no guarantee that the same deal will still be available on Black Friday or even that it will be in stock.

When will Black Friday PC gaming deals start?

Black Friday falls on November 26 this year. Generally speaking, we start to see prices start to gradually move downwards from there culminating in the biggest price cuts in the week immediately following Thanksgiving.

In short, if you're looking to not miss a single Black Friday PC gaming deal then you'll want to keep your eyes peeled right now, since a lot of deals are already going live.

Is Black Friday a good time to buy a gaming PC?

Yes, Black Friday is a great time to buy both pre-built gaming PCs and gaming laptops, with the latter being a particularly popular option over the Holidays. It's also a great time to be picking up new components for your builds (with the exception of graphics cards), and also any peripherals you need like gaming mice, keyboards, and headsets.

It's worth noting that even with the ongoing graphics card shortage, last year's Black Friday PC gaming deals included a few great pre-built options. With graphics cards still remaining scarce for the foreseeable future (including November), it could be well worth pulling the trigger on a pre-built machine instead of waiting it out to build your own. That's what we'd advocate for outright value right now, although Black Friday's still a great time to upgrade your non-graphics card components.

Are video games cheaper on Black Friday?

Yes, we should see some good Black Friday game deals on both physical and digital copies come November. Amazon, Best Buy, and Currys are just some of the retailers that should sell hard copies at a discount, and Steam tends to run a one-day Black Friday sale each year that's perfect if you're looking to bundle up your new rig with a nice library of games.

The Epic Store also had its own week-long 2020 Black Friday sale running from November 26th through December 3rd. That particular sale included price cuts of up to 75% on titles like Watch Dog Legion, Control, Crysis Remastered, Death Stranding, and Outer Worlds - all fairly popular titles at the time. It's also worth checking in with the Epic Store over Black Friday as the service also tends to offer free games fairly regularly.

Where can I find the best Black Friday PC gaming deals?

We've already covered some of the best retailers for picking up cheap games over Black Friday, but there's plenty more to consider if you're looking for components, peripherals, or machines specifically. Here's a quick rundown of who we expect to offer the best Black Friday PC gaming deals:

In the US:
Amazon: excellent for cheap mice, keyboards, headsets, and games
Best Buy: consistently good gaming laptops, plus good pre-built PCs
Walmart: super-budget gaming laptops, plus peripherals
Newegg: excellent for processors, RAM, SSDs, and other components
Dell: really good sales for all budgets on gaming laptops and PCs
HP: great for pre-built gaming desktops
Secretlab: premium gaming chairs often on sale

In the UK:
Amazon: the best place for cheap peripheral deals and monitors
Currys: very competitive cheap gaming laptops and pre-built machines
Box: also a stellar choice for a gaming laptop on a budget
Newegg: great prices on all sorts of components
eBuyer:
another great vendor for picking up components and pre-builts

How to Get the Best Black Friday PC Gaming Deals

There are going to be some really amazing Black Friday PC gaming deals across the entire market, from prebuilt systems to DIY components, from gaming laptops to gaming chairs and headsets.

There are a couple of quick rules to keep in mind though so you get the best deal possible.

1. Know what you're looking for before  Black Friday
There are going to be a lot of great deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but not all of them are going to be the right deal for you, no matter the price. Knowing what you want ahead of time will help you brush aside the deals you don't need to help you find the deals you want.

2. Add some wiggle room to your budget when researching your options
If you set a maximum budget of $800/£800 for your Black Friday gaming PC purchase, look at models that cost about 25 to 40% more than that. On Black Friday – and even before – PCs that might be out of your price range now are going to see big price cuts and could unexpectedly fall into your budget. The same will be true for ever other Black Friday PC gaming deal.

3. Be ready to commit to a purchase
Don't let the promise of a better deal keep you from snagging a great bargain. If you see a great deal on the computer you want and its within your budget, don't be afraid to commit and submit your order. Many deals are time-limited and stock this year might be less than anticipated, so there's no guarantee that you're going to get a better price later. If you save a bunch of money on your new computer, you should walk away feeling great about your purchase.

4. But know when to walk away
Still, its important to keep to your budget, especially if you want to load up on a bunch of PC gaming gear this Black Friday. Just because that absolutely amazing gaming PC that normally costs a fortune is suddenly just a few hundred dollars or pounds above your budget doesn't mean you must buy it. If you decide its worth it on the merits and its in line with what you want, go for it, but don't jump on a deal well beyond your budget just because it's almost there (or so you tell yourself).

5. Follow TechRadar on Cyber Monday for all the latest deals
We're going all hands on deck for Black Friday and Cyber Monday this year to track down the best deals that our PC gaming connoisseur agree are genuinely worth your hard-earned cash (and boy did we earn it in the past year and a half) and which ones you're better off passing on. You can also follow our TechRadar Deals Twitter account for up to the minute deals updates throughout Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

3 Top Black Friday PC Gaming Deals to Watch

A Razer Blade 15 Gaming Laptop

1. Razer Blade 15 (2021)

The latest iteration to a classic

Specifications

CPU: Intel Core i7-10750H - i7-10875H

Graphics: RTX 3060 - RTX 3080

RAM: 16GB - 32GB DDR4

Screen: 144Hz Full HD to 360Hz Full HD or 60Hz OLED 4K Touch

Storage: 512GB to 1TB PCIe

Reasons to buy

+Multiple configurations +RTX 3060 surprisingly good value

Reasons to avoid

-No 11th gen Intel chips -No options for AMD CPUs

The 2021 Razer Blade 15 is the current flagship model from the premium laptop brand and was the obvious pick for most people before the Razer Blade 14 was released earlier this year. It's still probably the best choice if you're going for sheer power on the high-end configurations, but the Blade 14 really gives it a run for its money on the baseline RTX 3060 models.

As with all the Razer Blade laptops on our list this week you'll be getting a stunning aluminum chassis here, alongside your choice of various configurations for both components and display types. Specifically featured on the 2021 releases are the shiny new RTX 3000 series graphics cards from Nvidia, which are a significant bump up in both power and value from last year's RTX 2000 cards.

Currently, prices start at $1,699 / £1,599 for the baseline model, which rocks an RTX 3060 graphics card, Intel Core  i7-10750H, 16GB of RAM 512GB SSD, and a 144Hz refresh rate display. Considering that's only $200 more expensive than last year's baseline model with a GTX 1660Ti and 256GB SSD, it's actually quite good value. Unfortunately, there are no options for AMD-based systems right now, which makes the Blade 15 a little more dated than the new 14 model.

Of course, if you really wanted to go all-out on your configuration, prices range all the way up to $2,999.99 / £2,799.99 for the RTX 3080 version. For that significant upcharge, you'll also bag yourself a 360Hz display, 8-core i7-10875H processor, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD - absolutely bonkers specs for 1080p gaming.

Due to the release of the new Razer Blade 14 and the aging components inside the 2021 Razer Blade 15, we'd say this one's a shoo-in for a hefty sale this Black Friday. So far, retailers haven't really offered anything, so it's early days, but if this model is planned a refresh for 2022 then sales are inevitable.

2. Alienware Aurora R11

The most customizable option

Specifications

CPU: Intel Core i5 10400F - i9 10900K

GPU: Geforce GTX 1650 - RTX 3090

RAM: 8GB - 128GB 3200 / 3400 Hz

Storage: 1TB HDD - 2TB NVMe SSD

Reasons to buy

+New RTX 3000 cards +Striking new case design +Easily upgradable +Many options to customize

Reasons to avoid

-Still waiting for 11th gen Intel CPUs

The Alienware Aurora R11 was released back in 2020 and it's currently the flagship gaming desktop from the premium brand. We're expecting the R11 to be fully updated rather soon with the latest 11th gen Intel Core processors, although you can already customize your machine to feature a new RTX 3000 graphics card currently.

Being the flagship desktop right now, the Alienware Aurora R11 can be configured for a truly huge range of specifications - all the way from a basic Core i5 / GTX 1650 Super setup to a firebreathing Core i9 / RTX 3090 monster in fact. Prices currently start around $1,000 / £900 for the former configuration, although if you're lucky you may be able to pick up an older specification for as low as $800 / £800 during sales events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

The Aurora R11 features the newest desktop chassis design from Alienware, which they've dubbed 'Legend'. It currently comes in two colors, a silver called 'Lunar Light' and a dark grey called 'Dark Side of the Moon' - both of which feature fully customizable RGB lighting. Like the older cases, this new design is fully modular and features a tool-less design that makes tinkering super easy, even if you opt to go for a basic spec now with plans to upgrade in the future.

For maximum value, we really recommend having a play with Dell's own configurator on its site. Using this, you'll be able to tailor your machine to your tastes and really squeeze out as much bang for the buck as possible. As of writing in the US for example, you can upgrade from the stock GTX 1650 Super graphics card to a GTX 1660Ti for $90 - a worthwhile upgrade to have in our books.

cheap mechanical gaming keyboard deals sales

1. Logitech G413

Best cheap mechanical gaming keyboard

Specifications

Connection: Wired

Backlighting: Yes - red

RGB Customization: No

Programmable Keys: F1 - F12

Switches: Romer-G

USB Passthrough: Yes

Wristrest: No

Reasons to buy

+Excellent price for mechanical switches +Slimline profile and gorgeous brushed effect +USB passthrough

Reasons to avoid

-No customizable RGB

Mechanical gaming keyboards often come at a premium over their hybrid or membrane counterparts, which is why this Logitech G413 is so impressive. Not only are you getting Logitech's Romer-G switches in here, for a quiet but tactile experience, but there's also USB passthrough and alternative key caps included. Those features are usually found on far more premium decks, but you are compromising in other areas to achieve such a great price.

There's no customizable RGB here, with only red backlighting to keep you company during those darker sessions. Plus, there are no dedicated macro keys - though the function row is programmable for a nice compromise at this price point.

If you're looking for a super customizable keyboard then, this might not be the best option. However, with 1.5mm switch actuation, 26 key rollover, anti-ghosting, and even an adjustable height there's still plenty to get excited about here.
